Application Methods and Precautions for Electronic Potting Adhesive
Electronic potting compounds offer excellent performance and, once cured, provide robust protection for electronic components, making them widely used in the electronics industry and other fields. However, to fully leverage their high performance, it’s essential not only to select the appropriate product model but also to pay close attention to proper application procedures. Below, we’ll outline how to apply electronic potting compound and highlight key precautions during operation.

Application method
1. Mixing Ratio: Electronic potting compounds are typically two-component systems that must be mixed according to the ratio specified in the product instructions. For example, the A and B components of electronic potting silicone are mixed at a 10:1 ratio, whereas the A and B components of transparent electronic potting compound are mixed at a 1:1 ratio.
2. Mix thoroughly: Before blending, ensure that Component A and Component B are fully and evenly mixed, particularly in the case of Component A, where settled pigments or fillers must be thoroughly dispersed.
3. Degassing: The mixed adhesive can be subjected to degassing to remove air bubbles. Place the mixture in a vacuum chamber and degas at 0.08 MPa for 2–5 minutes.
4. Curing Conditions: Electronic potting compounds typically cure at room temperature, with full curing requiring 24 hours. Ambient temperature and humidity significantly affect the curing time.
Precautions for Using Electronic Potting Compound
Before proceeding, be sure to thoroughly mix the two components. If small air bubbles do not affect the final performance, you can skip the vacuum degassing step, saving time and speeding up the entire process.
During the installation process, the joint should be carefully assessed. It should neither be too deep nor too wide; the width should slightly exceed the depth. If the joint is excessively wide, consider inserting a filler strip to enhance sealing performance. When applying sealant, avoid interruptions and strive for a continuous, seamless application.
